Oakland struggled to find offensive rhythm in the second quarter, with
Makenzie Luehring opening the scoring for the quarter at 9:08 with an and-one layup.
Despite improved defensive efforts, including a block by
Sereniti Roberts-Adams, Oakland was unable to contain Michigan's attack, which capitalized on turnovers and second-chance opportunities. By the end of the quarter, Oakland trailed 54–27.
Oakland saw a big spike in momentum in the third quarter, seeing an increase in hustle and points as they attacked the Wolverines.
Lianna Baxter scored back-to-back buckets, including an and-one post hook, while Luehring added her own and-one conversion as Oakland continued to press Michigan, scoring 15 points against Michigan's 17 in the quarter. The Wolverines were still able to ward off a comeback attempt, still leading 71-42 by the end of the third frame.
