Daytona Beach, FL - The Oakland Men's Golf Team completed play this Tuesday at the Daytona Beach Intercollegiate, finishing in 8th place at the 7,100 yard, par 72 course. Tournament hosts, Stetson, ran away with the tournament firing seven over for three rounds of golf. The Grizzlies fired rounds of 304,306,308, respectively.
Leading the charge for the Grizzlies for the second straight event was Junior Ed Rowe. Ed came out firing, finishing with a two under par 70 in the first round, which saw him have a share of the lead. Ed ended up firing 226 for the tournament and a 21st place finish.
Playing as an individual, sophomore
Ellis Kinnaird fired a score of 227 for three rounds which saw him garner a top 25 finish. Freshman
Ben Willis, 35th place, and freshman
Robert Burns, 45th place, were the next two finishers for the Grizzlies.
Anothony Comito (233) and
Luke Kelly (236) rounded out the starting five's scoring.
Oakland bested two horizon league foes, Purdue Fort Wayne and Northern Kentucky, in the event.
The Grizzlies will have two weeks off before their next event at East Carolina, March 18th and 19th.
