ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Golden Grizzlies hit the track in Raleigh for the three day Raleigh Relays Meet.
Oakland participated in just one event on Thursday in the opening day of the Relays. Two Golden Grizzlies took the track for the Men's 5000m race. Yami Albrecht saw his first action of the outdoor season, clocking in a personal-best time of 14:30.64, while Wesley Hollowell joined Albrecht, finishing with a time of 14:50.88.
Oakland had a busier day two on Friday, starting with a historic performance by Grace Nolan in the Women's 10000m race as she finished in 35:07.99, a personal best for her as well as the third fastest time in program history. Erin Hegarty and Makenna Scott both sped along in the Women's 5000m race as Hegarty finished in 16:58.79 and Scott in 17:32.19, both personal bests.
The Golden Grizzlies moved into the final day of the meet on Saturday, where history was made in the Women's 800m race, where the Golden Grizzlies have really thrived this season.
Sophomore Abby Jackson placed fourth in her section with a time of 2:11.22, making program history as the fastest time in the event in Oakland history. Hannah Fisher (2:15.11) and Karenna Duffey (2:16.62) both also set personal bests in the event.
The Golden Grizzlies had their first Men's event of the weekend with the 800m race, another event where Oakland is particularly deep. TJ Brooks finished with a time of 1:54.55 and Eddie Harrell III finished in 1:56.18.Â
The Golden Grizzlies take the track next in their home territory as they host the Golden Grizzlies Invite on Saturday, April 6 beginning at 10 a.m.
