AKRON, Ohio – Oakland Men's and Women's Swim and Dive put on a stellar performance at the Zippy Invite this past weekend, where both squads earned second place. At Ocasek Natatorium, Golden Grizzlies broke records on their way to a dominant performance in the pool.
Senior
Jordyn Shipps delivered an exceptional performance in the 200 yard butterfly, clocking a time that not only earned her first place but also shattered Oakland's previous school record in the event. Her time of 1:58.56 marks the top time in the league. Shipps holds the top time in five events in the Horizon League.
The men's 400 yard freestyle relay, which consisted of
Harry Nicholson,
Micah Scheffer,
Jack Wike, and
Charles Brown, secured a meet record and first place. Their time of 2:53.75 is the fastest time at Ocasek Natatorium and at Zippy Invite.
The Zippy Invite showcased numerous records and personal best performances for both the Men's and Women's teams. Across the four day event, the men's team got to a strong start and held strong. At the completion of the first day, the Golden Grizzlies secured second place, which they held to the end. The women's team showed great resilience over the four day span. On the final day, the women's team came roaring back to secure second place.
Harry Nicholson picked up a NCAA B Cut time in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 1:42.94.
Jordyn Shipps finished third in the 200 yard Individual Medley with a time of 1:59.27, which qualifies for an NCAA B Cut. Taking fourth in the women's 200 yard Medley Relay,
Grace Albrecht,
Kalin Wiltrout,
Jordyn Shipps, and
Ronja Riihinen, posted an impressive time of 1:41.44. The men's team secured second place in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:26.51, courtesy of

John Aegerter took fourth in the men's 1650-yard freestyle, posting a time of 15:56.24.
With this great showing in the midseason, the Golden Grizzlies look to the new year for continued success. The Golden Grizzlies will be back in action January 17 at home against Calvin College. The meet will kick off at 5 PM.
