OXFORD, Ohio – The Oakland Swimming and Diving teams faced tough competition on the road against Miami University (OH) in a dual meet filled with strong performances from multiple Golden Grizzlies.
Chris Palvadre, this past week's Horizon League Swimmer of the Week, extended his remarkable streak in the pool by claiming first place in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:02.36.
Mia Englender secured first place in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 10:32.90.Â
Senior Karel Subagyo delivered an impressive performance in the men's 500-yard freestyle, securing first place with a time of 4:36.64. Subagyo also posted a scorching time in the men's 200 yard freestyle, 1:39.87, to take first place in the event. On the women's side, senior
Rhianna Hensler showcased her skill in the 200 butterfly, earning a victory with a time of 2:05.70 and contributing crucial points to the Golden Grizzlies' overall tally.
In the men's 200 yard butterfly, Oakland finished second and third, with
Max Haney finishing with a time of 1:51.91 and
James Hart with 1:52.63. Oakland's diving squad also had a strong showing, with
Ellie Chalifoux placing second on the women's 1-meter board with a score of 266.33 and Edin DeHooghe finishing third for the men with 264.15. Both divers' performances were key to Oakland's success in a highly competitive meet.
Despite facing tough opposition, Oakland swimmers consistently achieved personal and season-best times, underlining their position as top contenders in the Horizon League. The Golden Grizzlies will be back in action Thursday, November 11 at 4 p.m. against Eastern Michigan in Ypsilanti, Michigan.Â
