Golden Grizzlies fall in Metro Series to Close out the Season

ROCHESTER, Mich. - In a tough hard fought game Oakland falls in its rivalry game against Detroit Mercy with a final score of 5-0 to cap off the season.

Not even a minute into the game Detroit Mercy got on the scoreboard as Justice Tillotson capitalized on the free kick to give the Titans the early one to zero lead.

Shortly after the score Oakland had an opportunity driving toward the net as Isabella Bierod put a shot on goal, however Detroit Mercy's goalie Marisa Silver halted opportunity, pouncing on the ball for the save.

Detroit Mercy had yet another opportunity on a free kick at the thirteen minute mark. Justice Tillotson had the kick again, however Oakland's defense stood tall to ensure the Titan's opportunity was shut down immediately.

Fast forward to the 42nd minute mark, Detroit Mercy got on the board again, this time it was Natalie Dye who clanked the ball off the goalpost, but snuck it in the net to give the Titans a 2- lead heading into halftime.

While the 2-0 lead for the Titans would suggest they dominated the half that really wasn't the case in the box score. Detroit Mercy held a slight advantage in shots (9-to-8), corners (5-to-4), and saves (4-to-2), while the squads were even in terms of shots on goal with four each, leaving room for the Golden Grizzlies to make up ground in the final 45 minutes.

Similar to the opening half, the Titans jumped on the scoreboard quick to start the second as Leila Lenier scored a contested goal within a group of players in the Oakland boxl to extend their lead to 3-0.

Detroit Mercy would seal the deal with a pair of goals in the 58th and 80th minutes to eventually secure a 5-0 win.

Oakland almost got one back at minute 73 as Shannon Brown received a great pass and had a promising shot on goal, however Marisa Silver made an excellent save to turn Oakland away with nothing once again.

Detroit Mercy finished the game with the upper hand in shots on goal (9-to-6), corners (7-to-5), and saves (6-to-4), while both teams finished with 15 shots a piece.

Frankie Mudd led the Golden Grizzlies in shots (6) on the night, while Thai Qualich added three shots of her own, two of which were on goal.
