ROCHESTER, Mich. - Announced on Tuesday, September 19, volleyball junior
Ainsley Guse and Esports senior Austin "Spectral" Kujawa were named the Oakland University Prairie Farms Student-Athletes of the Week.
Earning Saluki Invitational All-Tournament Team honors, Guse helped the Golden Grizzlies to a 1-1 record in Carbondale, Illinois on September 15 and 16, recording 12 blocks and 19 kills over the two matches, all without committing a blocking error.
On the season, Guse leads Oakland with 30 blocks, good for an average of .75 per set, and she and her teammates will open Horizon League play on Tuesday against the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons at 6 p.m. at the Gates Sports Center on ESPN+ ($).
A two-year team captain and member of the program since it was launched in 2020, Kujawa's strategy piloted the Golden Grizzlies to a 5-1 record and third-place finish in the Riptide College Crew Battle Tournament, with the only loss coming to the Michigan State Spartans.
Kujawa followed this up by leading Oakland to a pair of Super Smash Bros. wins over Purdue Fort Wayne to open their National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE) regular season on September 14, taking 11 stocks while losing only two of his own.
