Townsend and Moore Post 23 in Gritty Home Win

ROCHESTER, Mich. – Oakland University Men's Basketball picked up its tenth #HLMBB win in a 85-81 bout with IUPUI at the Athletics Center O'rena on Wednesday night.

The two teams were intertwined from the jump as the O'rena were privy to a knotted-up 5-5 contest with 16:10 to go by a Jalen Moore jumper.

Without going into too much detail, the game was tied a total of seven times throughout the first 20 minutes of play as Trey Townsend, Keaton Hervey, and Chris Conway finished the half with six points apiece.

Picking up the action with 1:53 remaining, an and-one opportunity by IUPUI saw the visiting red go up by four at 40-36 where the Golden Grizzlies' Townsend ignited a 6-0 run to finish the frame with Rocket Watts leading the team at the break with 10 points.

As a team, Oakland was 52.9% (18-34) from the field with only one three-pointer coming from Hervey to extend the historic triple streak to 1,091 games. The Golden Grizzlies also edged the glass with 18 rebounds to IUPUI's 15 with eight second-chance points.

The pace of the game picked up significantly out of the gate, with IUPUI going up by as much as five with 17:33 to go at 49-44 as yet another 6-0 including Moore's steal and green-lit layup put Oakland up 50-49.

More tie-ups, efforts, and free throws kept the Golden Grizzlies in range with the Jaguars posting two and three-point leads down the stretch.

With 4:12 left on the clock, Moore's triple granted Oakland the edge on which it would never look back.

Lampman's career-high six steals sealed the win as the Jaguars were not able to hold on to the rock, allowing the Golden Grizzlies to win their tenth #HLMBB victory 85-51.
