2024 Hall of Honor Inductee: Samantha Condon

Rochester, Mich - Samantha Condon has been named to the Hollie L. Lepley Hall of Honor Class of 2024. Condon was a star student-athlete for the Women's Volleyball program from 2014-17. One of the most impactful players in Oakland Volleyball history, Condon dominated on the court.

In her freshman year, Condon led Oakland to their first-ever Horizon League Championship and NCAA tournament appearance. Condon was named Horizon League Tournament MVP and to the All-Tournament Team in her historic run. This was just the beginning to an amazing career for the Naperville, Ill. native as she went on to become a three-time All-League Team Member, a 2014 All-Freshman Team member, and two-time All-Tournament Team Member.

Her 2014 Horizon League Tournament run was historic. When mentioning her favorite moment as a Golden Grizzly, Condon said, "There are many memories that I look back at and make me smile, but one of my favorite memories was winning the 2014 Horizon League Tournament and competing against Kentucky in the first round. It was cool to be a part of making history within our program.".

Condon's name is forever etched into the Oakland Volleyball record book. The three-year captain played the fifth most sets in Oakland history (462), ranks first in career block assists (404), ranks second in total career blocks (432), and recorded 11 blocks in a match twice over her illustrious career. Her presence at the net was something rarely seen in the sport.

Condon not only led on the court, but she was an exemplary teammate and leader off the court as well. She served as the team representative for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for two years, while also serving on the leadership team for TEAM IMPACT and volunteering at OU Cares. She stood out in the classroom just as much, being named to the Horizon League All-Academic Team in 2017 and to the League Honor Roll for four straight years (2014-18).

"I am so grateful for all that Oakland University and the volleyball program brought me over my time there. The program was so much more than the sport itself. Oakland volleyball provided opportunities that helped me grow and shaped me into a more competitive and skilled player, a well rounded and compassionate human, a stronger leader, and it gave me opportunities to grow as a professional in my field of work," said Condon.

Post-graduation, he volleyball star returned to serve as a graduate assistant for the program for two years after her graduation, working with the future of the team. Condon went on to become a Youth Volleyball Coach for the Legacy Volleyball Club, as well as currently being a Special Education Teacher in Clarkston Community Schools.

Condon will be honored at halftime during the Men's Basketball game on Saturday,  Feb. 3 at 1 p.m. against Cleveland State. This year's induction ceremony will be held at 6:30 p.m. after the game at the Royal Park Hotel in Rochester, MI.
