Two-Day Meets on Tap for OU

ROCHESTER, Mich. – Oakland University Men's and Women's Track & Field teams will head up north and down south once again for the two-day PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center and the Jet's Pizza Invitational at the SVSU Fieldhouse on January 27-28.

Ashley Quinn's Women's Mile record was good enough to nab the senior her second Nike #HLTF Track Athlete of the Week honor with the Romeo native posting a 4:55.68 last Friday. Eddie Harrell III received his first Track Athlete of the Week honor this season after posting a 48.96 in the Men's 400m dash, the fastest time in the league this season.

Last Friday, 15 personal bests were set at the Doug Hansen Invitational hosted by Saginaw Valley State. This will be the second meet that the Golden Grizzlies venture outside of the state of Michigan, previously hitting U of L rival Kentucky for the Rod McCravy Memorial Meet on January 14.

The Golden Grizzlies have six of the top #HLTF marks on the men's side and four on the women's for a combined total of ten as the indoor season continues to rage on.

The Oakland men were ranked No. 15 as the third-best #HLTF team in the USTFCCCA Great Lakes Region poll while the women appeared at 22.

This is the third-straight meet that the Cardinals will host with the Norton Healthcare Sport and Learning Center seeing action in the Commonwealth College Opener and the Cardinal Classic. The host team, the University of Louisville, has their men's squad ranked No. 18 in the latest USTFCCCA Top 25 Poll. This will also be the fourth total time that Oakland has traveled to University Center, Michigan in the SVSU Fieldhouse as the Cardinals of Saginaw Valley State have hosted four meets on their home oval.

THREES ACROSS THE BOARD
Both the men's and women's squads were ranked third in the annual #HLTF Preseason Indoor Coaches Poll.

ALBRECHT - THE CHAMPION
At the 2022 #HLXC Championships in Rochester, Albrecht won the individual crown through the 8,000-kilometer course with a kick down the final stretch in 24:44.

RUNNERS OF THE WEEK SWEEP
After only one meet on the course this season, Albrecht and Nolan earned Nike #HLXC Runners of the Week in the Horizon League's first edition this September.

NO. 1 ON THE COURSE
The Golden Grizzlies women's squad is predicted to win the Horizon League championship this October with the men's team slated for third overall.
