ROCHESTER, Mich. – Oakland University Men's and Women's Track & Field wrapped up a three-meet weekend with the Rod McCravy Memorial Meet in Lexington, Kentucky and the Michigan Invitational in Ann Arbor on Saturday affirming two school records in the process.
On Friday, Makiya Worthy notched a 300m school record at the SVSU Classic with a new university time of 39.10 seconds heading into Saturday's meets.
At the University of Kentucky, Yami Albrecht stole fifth in the men's 3,000m run out of 45 harriers with a mark of 8:15.13. Ashley Quinn and Hannah Fisher wrapped up the women's 800m run in 2.74 laps around the oval in 2:14.81 and 2:17.12 for fourth and ninth, respectively.
In the same event on the men's side, Eddie Harrell III took third in the men's 800m with his watch stopped in 1:52.98.
Quinn then doubled in the women's mile along with Brooke Hinkelman for ninth and 18th with 5:00.45 and 5:12.62. Erin Hegarty and Grace Nolan took fourth and fifth in the women's 3,000m run a little over a second and a half apart in 10:03.01 and 10:04.56.
Back up in Ann Arbor, Alex Hugh-Plott and Zachary Webb had their names listed first and second, respectively, on the men's high jump leaderboard at 2.15m (7'0.5") and 2.03m (6'7.75"). Hugh-Plott not only reaches over seven feet, but nabs the school record in the process.
Alex Mansfield and Romario Jackson led the Golden Grizzlies in the men's shot put and weight throw with heaves of 15.52m (50'11") and 14.12m (46'4"), respectively.
The Men's 4x400m relay team would finish second in 3:18.53. Worthy, Samari Finney, Azsah Bradley, and Payton Sabourin reached third collectively in the women's 4x400m relay with the timing system registering a 3:51.90.
Oakland will return to University Center, Michigan on the campus of Saginaw Valley State for the Doug Hansen Invitational on Saturday, January 2.
