LaGrand, Breedy NCAA Woman of the Year Nominees

ROCHESTER, Mich. – Oakland University Student-Athletes Susan LaGrand and Brianna Breedy were selected as NCAA Woman of the Year nominees.

According to the NCAA, "The NCAA Woman of the Year program was established in 1991 and honors the academic achievements, athletics excellence, community service and leadership of graduating female college athletes from all three divisions."

Nominees are selected by their respective institutions after earning at least a varsity letter in their respective sport along with a completion of their degree by the summer. These individuals not only excel in the classroom but also racked up accolades while in an Oakland uniform.

LaGrand found herself in the NCAA conversation after finishing her season with a multitude of accolades in the pool while Breedy locked down the hardwood as the Golden Grizzlies made history, advancing to the Horizon League Semifinals for the first time ever, in her final season.

Officials from the Horizon League will then select representatives of the five total conference nominees and present them to the NCAA where the membership will select the top 10 from each division. From there, it will be cut to the top three until the NCAA Woman of the Year Committee will select the Woman of the Year from the nine finalists.
