INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – On Wednesday, the Horizon League announced Oakland University Track & Field and Softball student-athletes Connor Goetz and Madison Jones as the conference announced those individuals as 2022 Spring Scholar Athletes of the Season.

Goetz wrapped up the 2022 outdoor season with individual titles in both the Men's 5,000m and Men's 10,000m at the Horizon League Outdoor Championships in Rochester. The Fort Wayne, Indiana native holds school records as his time wrapped up in a Golden Grizzlies uniform along with a degree in electrical engineering. This is Goetz's second-straight Scholar Athlete of the Season honor.

Jones helped lead the Oakland Softball program to its first NCAA Tournament appearance for the first time since 2015. Jones was the Horizon League Tournament MVP and All-Horizon League First Team, leading the squad with a .351 batting average including a team-leading 10 home runs and 25 RBI. Jones wraps up her academic career with a degree in health sciences.
