GREEN BAY, Wis. – Oakland University Softball held off Green Bay Saturday afternoon on the road with a 8-7 victory to round out the regular season in Wisconsin as the team awaits its fate in the 2022 Horizon League Softball Tournament.

Madison Jones would follow up her stellar performance from the double header on Friday with a first-pitch double to left center field with Lauren Griffith getting the walk behind her as both runners would advance off a Green Bay error that placed Jen Krizka on first. Jones would score off Munson's groundout to second base for the 1-0 lead and nothing more.

Sydney Campbell bagged a strikeout to end the first inning as a bases-loaded throwing error by the Phoenix would allow two more runs to score in the top of the second. With Krizka up to the plate with runners on second and third, the Joliett, Illinois native sent a rocket down the left field line for a two RBI double to go up five-zip. 

In the bottom of the second, Green Bay would get a run by with a bases-loaded walk though Campbell would be able to put away a batter looking to leave three runners on at 5-1. The Golden Grizzlies would get nothing out of the third but only lead by two runs at the conclusion of the stanza.

The Golden Grizzlies would get much of the same out of the fourth with Green Bay managing to tie it up off some key-positioned hits. Oakland would retake the lead as Allisa DiPrima reached first off a throwing error, scoring off Reese Ruhlman's double to make the game 6-5 in the top of the fifth.

In the next inning, Oakland had two outs with runners on first and second with Maci Brown up to bat. The sophomore would then smash a ball just out of reach of the center fielder, bringing in two RBI and getting her third triple of the season for the 8-5 lead.

Green Bay would get nothing out of the sixth with the score holding after the Golden Grizzlies' turn in the middle of the seventh. With two outs to go in the bottom of the seventh, a single by the Phoenix brought two RBI across as things would get tense in Wisconsin. 

In the end, Campbell gets a crucial strikeout swinging to finish the game and grab the series win.

Oakland concludes the regular season at 23-15 overall, 18-7 in Horizon League play and will await the 2022 Horizon League Softball Championship bracket Sunday night.
