SCHOOL RECORDS TUMBLE ON SENIOR DAY AT ELAINE LEIGH INVITE

ROCHESTER, Mich. – On Senior Day, Oakland University Track & Field wrapped up its home Elaine Leigh Invitational with personal bests and school records abound over the course of the two day meet in Rochester. 

On Friday night, Ellie Voetberg cruised to a 16:55.51 Women's 5000m victory while Adam Jesse would lead the Golden Grizzlies' men's side in the 5000m at 14:50.37. 

Azsah Bradley would place second overall in the Women's 100m dash with a time of 11.72 seconds Ravenna, Ohio native would also lead Oakland in the Women's 200m at 24.75m. Maddi Leigh would break the school outdoor Women's 800m record, stopping watches in 2:12.46 to grab eight points in second.

Jimmie Williams and Justin Kudera would establish first and second-place, respectively, in the Men's 400m as the two would finish close in 46.77 and 47.41 seconds. Terrence Brooks Jr. placed second in the Men's 800m run for eight points in 1:52.76 as Gabriel Singh took first overall in the Men's 400m Hurdles with a mark of 52.51 seconds.

Trey Plichta would lead the Men's Steeplechase wire-to-wire for the 9:23.42 finish with Jennifer Ohlsson's second-place performance of 11:34.04 on the women's side. Peyton Sabourin finished a whole lap of hurdles in the Women's 400m Hurdles with the victorious mark of 1:01.80.

The Women's 4x100m Relay team of Marthea Vann-Scott, Makiya Worthy, Shaneese La Mons, and Bradley nabbed first-place with a flat time of 46.00 seconds.

Romario Jackson nabbed first in the Men's Discus final with a heave of 50.70m (166'4") as Chase Novak would finish runner-up in the Men's Triple Jump at 13.80m (45'3.5"). Kudera placed second in the Men's Long Jump with 7.06m (23'2") and Alex Hugh-Plott would once again fly to first in the Men's High Jump at 2.05m (6'8.75"). 

Alexis Hunter leapt her way to the Women's Long Jump victory with a distance of 11.72m (38'5.5") as the senior, Gabby Cyriax, took second in the Women's Hammer finals in 50.09m (164'4"). 

Both Golden Grizzlies men's and women's teams won the home meet with 127.5 and 215.5 points, respectively.

The Golden Grizzlies have the prestigious Penn Relays April 28-30 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on the schedule ahead of the 2022 Horizon League Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
