CLEVELAND, Ohio – Oakland University Women's Tennis suffered a 6-1 set back against Cleveland State in the Horizon League opener Friday afternoon at the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion.

Liza Mladentseva secured OU's only point of the league opener with a 2-0 (6-2, 7-5) win over her opponent at the number one singles spot. 

Four of the other five matches were forced into the crucial third set, most notably at the number four spot had to be decided in a tiebreaker as Jillian Milano stole the first set 6-4 before dropping set two 6-3 as set three would go 7-6 (10-8) in favor of the home Vikings.

Oakland did take one of the three doubles games at the number two hole in Mladentseva and Milano who exploded to the 6-2 victory as the duo is now 3-1 together on the season.

The Golden Grizzlies continue further east for their next match in Youngstown, Ohio against the Penguins of YSU on Sunday, April 3 at 11:00 a.m.
