GOLDEN GRIZZLIES FALL LATE TO NO. 21 MICHIGAN

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Oakland University Softball dropped its Wednesday afternoon game late to the No. 21 Michigan Wolverines 6-0 in Ann Arbor in non-conference action.

Madison Jones' hit a blooper to shortstop to kick things off for the Golden Grizzlies with a hit before the Wolverines' arm sank two strikeouts to shorten up scoring hopes for OU in the top of the first as Sydney Campbell and team took three up-and-down to retire the first inning.

U of M's pitcher mowed through the first two batters in the second for Oakland to make quick work of the visitors as the Wolverines would get their first hit of the day in the bottom of the frame. With two runners on, Oakland's critical thinking secured the final two outs of the inning to end the threat.

Michigan threw three-straight strikeouts in the top of the third to retire Oakland's side as two Wolverine batters were sent to the dugout quickly ahead of Jen Krizka's throw to second base to cut off an attempted stolen base to end the third inning.

In the top of the fourth, Michigan finished the frame with six-straight strikeouts to its credit as the Oakland offense stalled. Both team's pitchers would continue to harvest batters with Campbell breaking a loaded count for a looking strikeout before Michigan would put the Golden Grizzlies away in yet another one, two, three inning in the fifth.

The Wolverines would get a base runner at the top of the frame, advancing to second before a walk would put runners on both first and second. The subsequent maize and blue hitter would send a three RBI homer over center field to go up 3-0 in the bottom of the fifth.

Oakland wouldn't have an answer in the sixth as the Wolverines would get one more across on a squeeze to third base that resulted in the sixth hit for U of M setting up the second home run of the day over the right field wall.

Down 6-0 in the top of the seventh, OU was not able to land a hit on the aluminum as the Golden Grizzlies would fall at Alumni Field 6-0.
