TRACK CAPITALIZING OFF BIG PERFORMANCES, SET FOR GVSU WEEKEND

ROCHESTER, Mich. – Oakland University Men's and Women's Track & Field will be in Allendale, Michigan for the GVSU Big Meet on Friday and Saturday February 11-12 as there are just two meets left in the regular season.

Three units of the squad will head into the weekend as one of the best groups in the nation in the Men's 400m, Men's High Jump, and Women's 5000m. The men's groups are 16th and 12th in the nation, respectively, as Jimmie Williams and Alex Hugh-Plott lead the way for OU in both of those categories. The Women's 5000m group is 20th in the NCAA led by Ellie Voetberg. 

Last weekend at the Notre Dame Meyo Invitational, Connor Goetz broke the Oakland Men's 5000m record with a new time of 14:18.44 while Chase VanSickle secured a Horizon League Men's Field Athlete of the Week with his mark of 2.04m (6'8.25") in the Men's High Jump.

The Big Meets will have competition ranging from NCAA Division I to NAIA as both days will take place at the Kelly Family Sports Center.

Events will get underway with a few sections of the men's 5000m on Friday. The first field events scheduled, the high jump and long jump, will start at noon with open sections.
