ROCHESTER, Mich. – Following an indoor season that saw multiple school records fall and conference championships secured, Oakland University Men's and Women's Track & Field unveiled its 2022-23 Indoor Track & Field season slate with nine meets on the docket.
The season kicks off December 3 in University Center, Michigan at the SVSU Fieldhouse for the SVSU Holiday Open before a final tune-up meet at the GVSU Holiday Open in Allendale leads the squads into the holiday break. Once the team returns, they'll once again travel up to Saginaw Valley State for the SVSU Classic on January 13.
January 21 will serve as a precursor for the #HLTF Championships as the team will survey the Lutheran Health Fieldhouse for the Mastodon Invite before traveling to the first two-day meet of the year at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational in Louisville, Kentucky where power five team Louisville will serve as host.
Oakland will travel to the prestigious Notre Dame Meyo Invitational on February 3-4 at the Loftus Sports Center in South Bend where former Golden Grizzly student-athlete Connor Goetz broke the indoor 5,000-meter school record in 14:18.44.
A solo meet at Grand Valley State, where four school records fell last season, on February 10 precedes the 2023 #HLTF Indoor Track & Field Championships taking place on February 25-26 in Fort Wayne at what will be the familiar Lutheran Health Fieldhouse. Last year, the OU men took third with 122.5 points at the meet while the women placed third as well with 111 points after the two-day meet concluded.
Rounding out the year will be the NCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico from March 10-11 for those who qualify out of the regular season.
