ROCHESTER, Mich. -- Oakland's Jamie Walling of volleyball and Alessio Carbone of men's soccer have been named Oakland Student-Athletes of the Week presented by Prairie Farms after a pair of stellar performances.
 
Walling, a graduate student from Normal, Ill. was named tournament MVP at the DePaul Invitational, guiding the Oakland to its second-straight tournament win. Walling totaled 35 kills, including a match-high 21 against tournament host DePaul. She marked her 12th-career match with 20-plus kills, adding nine blocks on the weekend. Walling recorded a hitting percentage above .400 against Akron and DePaul, helping the team win all three matches and nine out of 10 setsin addition to extending Oakland's win streak to five.
 
Carbone, a freshman from Woodbridge, Ontario, Canada picked up his second shutout of the season and first career win making two saves on 11 shots faced Saturday against IUPUI in the Oakland men's soccer Horizon League opener. Carbone has started all four games for the Golden Grizzlies this season during his freshman campaign.
