ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Oakland women's soccer team dropped its home opener to DePaul Thursday night, 1-0 from the Oakland Soccer Field.
Macey Wierenga led the Golden Grizzlies (1-2) with three shots, while freshman
Isabelle Hanna made her Oakland debut tallying two shots on the night.
Noëmi Stadelmann played all 90 minutes in goal, recording six saves.
DePaul (1-1) was aggressive offensively from the start, out-shooting the Golden Grizzlies 15-1 in the first half. Oakland created more scoring chances in the second half, tallying five shots compared to the Blue Demons three.
Despite Oakland's opportunities in the second half, it was DePaul who found the back of the net early in the second half (46:33) taking a 1-0 lead.
The Blue Demons' lone goal of the second half would be the only one for either team, as DePaul earned its first win of the season.
