ROCHESTER, Mich. – Lauren Christian of the women's track and field team and Thomas Giroux of the men's golf team have been named United Wholesale Mortgage Student-Athletes of the Week.
 
Christian, a native of Covington, Ohio broke a school record in the shot put on Friday at the Golden Grizzlies Mini Meet with a first place toss of 46 ft., 2 in.The sophomore went on to lead the Golden Grizzlies in the discuss with a second place finish, recording a throw of 137 ft., 3 in. 

Giroux, who reigns from Georgetown, Ontario, Canada is ranked first in the Horizon League and was named Horizon League Golfer of the Year and a First Team selection after playing to an individual Horizon League Championship last week. The senior carded a three-round total of 214 (-2) becoming just the second individual champion in Oakland history en route to Oakland's first-ever Horizon League men's golf championship. Giroux finished with a season average of 72.5 and finished in the top-five in two of the four events. He also hit under par in five rounds this season and competed in all events for the Golden Grizzlies.
