OVERTIME PK GOAL LIFTS MILWAUKEE PAST OAKLAND

WSOC

MILWAUKEE –
The Oakland women's soccer team battled with Milwaukee in a must-win game for the Golden Grizzlies but it wasn't enough as the Panthers scored on penalty kick in overtime to top Oakland, 1-0 Monday night from Engelmann Stadium.

After 90 minutes of play, the game was deadlocked at 0-0 and headed into overtime. Monday's overtime game marks the third time in four meetings the two squads have gone into overtime.

At the 93:28 mark Oakland was called with a handball in the box, leading to a Milwaukee (7-1) penalty kick. The Panthers' took advantage of the opportunity, scoring on the PK and taking the game, 1-0.

Monday's game marks the first loss since Feb. 17 for the Golden Grizzlies and the first time since Feb. 10 Oakland hasn't scored a goal.

Jaimie Leas recorded two saves on the day, while Ashley Postma led the Golden Grizzlies offensively recording two shots and two on goal.

Oakland (5-3-2) needed a win Monday night to continue its season, due to the shortened COVID year and the Horizon League Championship only taking the top four teams.
