WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- The Oakland men finished the first day of the Horizon League Championship in first place with all five competitors landing in the top 25. Thomas Giroux led the Golden Grizzlies and is tied for first place after hitting a 70 for the day (-2). 

Colin Sikkenga and Chris Handy are tied for third after shooting 72 (E) in the opening round. Yaroslav Ilyenko is tied for 11th with 74 (+2) followed by Kyle Petrovich in 24th with 77 (+5). 

The Golden Grizzlies sit in first place with 288 (E) and are followed by Wright State with 292 (+4). Oakland tees off for round two Monday at 7:45 a.m.
