ROCHESTER, Mich.--
The Oakland men's and women's track and field seniors were celebrated today during the Elaine Leigh Track and Field Invitational. A dedication ceremony took place to honor Elaine Leigh by renaming the track and field complex the Elaine Leigh Track and Field Complex. Granddaughter, Maddi Leigh is currently on the track and field team and placed third in the 1500 (4:42.24), and was part of the 4x400 team that took second place (3:59.60).

Jimmie Williams broke the school record in the 400 with a time of 46.88 and is the only Oakland athlete to ever run the 400 in under 47 seconds. Williams also won the 200 in 21.45s. Marcus Nellum won the 400 hurdles (53.40) followed by Jake Kaupp in third place (56.84). 

Azsah Bradley won the 100 with a time of 11.94 and the 200 (24.66). Maddie Brown placed second in the 800 (2:22:13) while Ashley Vican finished second in the 5000 (18:17.04). Naomi Hallman took second in the 100 hurdles (14.22) followed closely by Emily Schaub in third (14.32) while Payton Sabourin finished second in the 400 hurdles (1:03.41). 

Oakland swept the men's and women's 1500 with Maryam Sheena winning with a time of (4:40.79) followed by Ashley Quinn in second (4:41.37). Yami Albrecht won for the men (3:56.71) followed by T.J. Brooks Jr. in second (3:58.01) and Adam Hill in third (4:14.17). 

In the field events, the men dominated the shot put with Kyle Piotrovsky taking first place (49 ft., 9.25 in.), followed by Romario Jackson in second (45 ft., 3 in.) and Vishal Turner in third (43 ft., 10.75 in.). Jackson also won the discus throw (140 ft., 9.25 in.).

Paige Sanders finished second in the long jump (18 ft., 5.25 in.) followed by Shaneese La Mons in third (17 ft., 8.75 in.). Dana Tessmer won the pole vault with a height of 12 ft., 3.25 in. Alexis Hunter won the triple jump with a distance of 37 ft., 11.25 in. while Chase Novak won for the men (46 ft., 1.25 in.).

Alex Hugh-Plott won the men's high jump (6 ft., 7 in.) while on the women's side Hannah Hall finished in second place (5 ft., 7 in.), narrowly missing the win due to tiebreaker rules. Trey Plichta won the 3000 steeplechase (9:51.01) while Olivia Updike finished second for the women (11:51.52).
