
CHICAGO –The Oakland men's and women's swimming and diving team swept UIC in its final dual meet of the season, taking down the Flames, 205-79 on the men's side and 177-121 on the women's side.

The Golden Grizzlies tallied a combined 22 first place finishes between the men and the women including a sweep in diving to add four first place finishes.Â

Marko Khotynetskyi time trailed in the 200 back, cruising to a finish in 1:42.01, the 29th
 fastest time in the country and making the NCAA B cut.
Â
In the 400 medley relay, Oakland took the top spot as the women's team of
Jewel Huang,
Sydney McDowell,
Mia Keranen and
Ronja Riihinen finished in 3:50.94. The men's squad of
Will Gayne,
Tarek Aboelthana,
Mack Flowers and
Ryan Geheb touched the wall in 3:20.06, good for first place.

McDowell earned top times in the 200 IM (2:06.84) and 100 breast (1:04.06)

Flowers added three more first place finishes on the day in the 200 free (1:39.41), 100 free (45.32), and 100 fly (48.66). The Senior finished third in the 200 breast (2:20.88) behind teammates
Taylor Bailey, who placed first in 2:17.40, while
Emily Shores finished second (2:18.87).Â

Aboelthana recorded two top individual finishes in the 100 breast (56.47), and the 200 breast (2:04.86).Â

Gayne led the Golden Grizzlies in the 200 back (1:49.97), and 100 back (50.87), while also earning a first place finish in the 400 free relay with teammates
Valance Washington,
William Barton and Geheb (3:05.12).

Emily Aycock cruised to ta first place finish in the 1000 free, finishing in 10:31.99, nearly nine seconds ahead of the next finisher.Â

In diving, senior
Bernie Turchi placed first in both the 3 meter (294.95) and 1 meter (281.20).  On the men's side,
Luke Lathrup earned two first place finishes in the 3 meter, scoring 239.80, and recording a 225.55 in 1 meter competition.Â

The NCAA Women's Championships will be held at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina. They're scheduled to take place March 17-20. North Carolina State University and the Greensboro Sports Foundation will serve as co-hosts.
Susan LaGrand will compete in the 200 back after qualifying in a time of 1:53.9, shaving nearly two seconds off her previous best at the EMU Last Chance Meet.
Oakland will travel to Indianapolis for the Horizon League Championships April 5-6 in diving competition, and April 8-10 in swimming, hosted by IUPUI.Â
