INDIANAPOLIS — Redshirt junior first baseman
Cammie Brummitt was named Nike® #HLSB Player of the Week, as the Horizon League announced its weekly softball awards Tuesday afternoon.
"Cammie has been very consistent for us on both sides of the ball," fourth-year head coach
Lauren Karn said. "She is leading off with a lot of poise and confidence, which is trickling down our lineup. It has been exciting to watch her take control of each of her at-bats and continuously succeed!"
Brummitt hit .412 with one triple, three home runs, seven RBI, and six runs scored in Oakland's conference series win at IUPUI. She slashed .412/.412/1.059 and opened the series with a home run in three-straight games. The Glen Allen, Va., native hit a leadoff triple in the seventh inning to spark a two-run rally in OU's first contest at IUPUI (3/12). Brummitt would go on to launch a go-ahead solo home run in the ninth inning, which ended in a 7-5 victory for the Golden Grizzlies. Her strong play continued, as she knocked in two RBI in the following three games. To add, Brummitt scored a run and drove in a run in all four games.Â
On the season, Brummitt leads OU in batting average (.370), hits (nine), triples (one), RBI (nine), runs (nine), on-base percentage (.469), and OPS (1.247). Dating back to last season, she has reached base in 10-straight games.
