ROCHESTER, Mich. -
Ville Ahola scored his first goal in an Oakland uniform while Dylan Borczak posted his fifth goal of the season as the Golden Grizzlies defeated visiting Purdue Fort Wayne, 2-1, on Tuesday night at the Grizz Dome to remain undefeated in Horizon League play.  Dawsun Schrum set the tone for the offense recording his first assist of the season while Owen Smith also tallied his first collegiate assist along with Noah Jensen who added his team-leading fifth assist of the year. Finn Jurak picked up his second win of the season with two saves including one off a penalty kick.

After a scoreless first half, Ahola got Oakland (2-0-1 HL) on the board in the 64th minute as he took a pass from Jensen, passed it out the Smith down ride side out wide, and headed inside the box. Smith then delivered a cross back over to Alona who took a touch and beat Purdue Fort Wayne (0-2 HL) keeper Erik Josson with a left-footed strike to the low left side.

Oakland then moved ahead 2-0 in the 70th minute as Borczak took a quick touch off a feed from Schrum that was deflected to him deep inside the box, turned, and hit a shot into the back of the net.

Jurak came up big as he saved a penalty kick off Logan Lee to keep the Mastodons off the board in the 77th minute. Josson returned the favor a minutes later as he also saved a penalty kick from Jensen keeping the Oakland lead at 2-0.

PFW got on the board in the 88th minute off a header by Lee but Oakland was able to control the ball for the remaining minutes to secure the win.
