ROCHESTER, Mich. – Oakland's Trey Townsend of men's basketball and Olivia Sims of women's basketball have been named Oakland Student-Athletes of the Week presented by Prairie Farms.

Sims lit up the scoreboard from deep against two Big 10 opponents this past week. Sims went 2-4 from downtown against the No. 12 Michigan Wolverines and scored 10 points in a game where the Golden Grizzlies pushed Michigan to their limits, tying the score in Ann Arbor with five minutes to go. 

On Oakland's home court vs. Michigan State, Sims tied a career-high in points (12) and set career highs in threes (four) and rebounds (five). Sims ranks tenth in the Horizon League in threes per game (1.8) and has four games with two or more 3-pointers.

Townsend averaged 16.3 points on 57-percent shooting (23-of-40) along with 6.3 rebounds to help the Oakland men's basketball team to a 3-0 record and a tournament title at the Gulf Coast Showcase in Estero, Fla. The second-year freshman tallied his third career double-double in the showcase opener with 12 points and 10 rebounds, as the Golden Grizzlies secured a 63-61 win over Vermont. 

The next day, Townsend shot 12-of-18 from the field en route to a career-high 25 points to lead OU to a 76-73 victory against Rice. In OU's 81-73 triumph versus Delaware in the tournament title game, the Oxford, Mich., native went off for 12 points, three rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block.
