
KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Finn Jurak made a season-high five saves while
Noah Jensen posted two shots on goal and Oakland was edged 1-0 by Western Michigan in double-overtime on Wednesday night at the WMU Soccer Complex.
Both Oakland's (3-5-2) and Western Michigan's (3-4-4) defense stood tall keeping the game scoreless throughout the first 45 minutes.
During the 50th minute of the second half, Oakland had its best scoring chance of the match as Jensen lined up for a free-kick and sent the ball into the box.
Charlie Braithwaite made a solid run under the ball and connected on a header towards the left side of the goal. However, WMU goalkeeper Isaac Walker made the same of the game pushing the ball off to the side directly to the right leg of
Kieran Hayes who missed the volley to the left of the frame.
The game remained scoreless until the 1:53 mark of the second overtime when WMU's Daniel Nimick connected on the golden goal giving the Broncos their first win in the last five matches.
Oakland resumes Horizon League play with a game against Cleveland State on Homecoming Saturday, Oct. 9 at 2 p.m.
