ROCHESTER, Mich. -- Oakland remains undefeated in Horizon League play after a 3-1 victory over Wright State Sunday afternoon and now has won eight games in a row.
Less than a minute after subbing into the game (26 min),
Vera Asare took a shot that ended up loose in front of the net before
Jessica Shears shot it at the post and deflected into the goal, marking Shears first goal of the season.
At 34 minutes,
Sharon Sampson received a pass from Carmelo Barro and dribbled around the goalie before carefully placing it in the bottom left corner, marking her first collegiate goal.
Only two minutes later, Oakland tallied their last goal of the game after a hard shot by Barro was blocked before
Karabo Dhlamini got the rebound and sent it past the goalie.
Wright State retaliated with a goal in the 59th minute but could not pull past the Golden Grizzlies. Oakland Goalkeeper Noëmi Stadelmann had four saves.
The competition continues on Oct. 23 for Senior Night and a home game against Milwaukee.
