OAKLAND ANNOUNCES 2021 SPRING VOLLEYBALL SCHEDULE

Volleyball Schedule
ROCHESTER, Mich
. — The Oakland women's volleyball team has announced its league schedule for the 2021 campaign, as the Horizon League approved a 16-match schedule against eight conference opponents.

The conference format features a Monday-Tuesday two-match split versus seven teams and a one-day doubleheader in the final week of competition. Each team will receive one bye week during the nine-week season.

The spring season will be the first opportunity for Oakland to play against another opponent since late November 2019. The Horizon League elected to cancel matches last fall due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"I am very excited to be able to release our 2021 spring schedule," 14th-year head coach Rob Beam said. "It has been a long road to get this point for everyone involved in planning the most unique semester of sports, perhaps in the history of intercollegiate athletics. I am grateful for the opportunity to compete and I am looking forward to seeing our student-athletes back on the court doing what they love."

Oakland opens its conference slate on January 25 and 26 in Moon Township, Pennsylvania against Robert Morris, which enters its inaugural year in the HL. The Colonials went 25-5 overall and 15-1 in the Northeast Conference in 2019. The Golden Grizzlies follow-up their season-opener with a bye week.

OU will also travel for matches at Cleveland State (Feb. 15-16), UIC (March 1-2), and Milwaukee (March 16-17).

The home opener for Oakland will be Feb. 8 and 9 against defending regular-season HL champion, Wright State. The Raiders received an at-large bid to the NCAA Championship in 2019, falling to Purdue in straight sets in the opening round.

The Golden Grizzlies will host Green Bay (Feb. 22-23) and Purdue Fort Wayne (March 8-9) before concluding the regular season with a home doubleheader versus Youngstown State on March 22.

The Horizon League has not announced its championship schedule. In August, the NCAA revealed it was moving its championship to the spring with a 48-team bracket.
