GOLDEN GRIZZLIES COMPLETE DAY ONE AT GVSU BIG MEET

RESULTS

ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Oakland men's and women's track and field teams complete day one of the GVSU Big Meet Friday after a full day of competition.

In the 5000m run, Megan Nichols ran to a sixth place in her heat, finishing in 17:13. Teammates Ashley Vican (18:06), Rachel Kempf (18:12), Morgan Markel (18:36), and Courtney Jarema (18:45) all competed in the 5k, making it the first of their indoor career.

On the men's side, Connor Wuori (14:57), Nathaniel Langlie (15:23), and Kyle Schwieman 15:43, all had a strong showing in the 5000m.

Maggie Schneider made her season debut in the 3000m run, leading the way for the Golden Grizzlies with a time of 9:59.38, placing 21st.

In the 200m dash, Jimmie Williams dominated on the men's side placing fifth with a time of 21.72. On the women's side, Chanel Gardner placed 20thwith a mark of 25.05.

Olivia Kane placed seventh in the pole vault with a mark of 12-02.75.

The Golden Grizzlies continue at GVSU Saturday with field events beginning at 10 a.m. Running prelims also are set to start at 10 a.m.
