TALKING X'S & O'S WITH TONY JONES | Assistant Coach
Tony Jones breaks down the two returners that have impressed the coaching staff the most since returning to campus.
"
Kevin Kangu has come back with a renewed focus, obviously, he came from a junior college where he was a national champion. Last year he tried to find his roll but we put him in a little bit of an uncomfortable position playing point guard, that's not a position he grew up playing and I think him playing off the ball now and focusing on the things he was good at in the past, he is bringing those things to the table early."
"
Blake Lampman made the All-Freshman Team, he was a walk-on, but he is a guy that has come on and acquired a scholarship this year and he has proved why the coaching staff was able to afford him that opportunity because he has come back bigger, stronger, better than ever, and much more focused. He will be one of the key components of this year's team."
IF WE PLAYED TONIGHT THE STARTING LINEUP WOULD BE | Coach Kampe, is one to always answer the tough questions. At Wednesday's radio show he was asked if the Golden Grizzlies played tonight, who would his starting lineup be, take a look to hear his answer!
IN HONOR OF KEN MCCARTER | Last week, Oakland University Athletics dedicated a bench outside of the Athletics Center surrounding the bear statue in memory of the late Ken McCarter, a mentor, fan and friend of the Golden Grizzlies.
McCarter and his wife Kathy were long-time season ticket holders for men's basketball as well as donors to various initiatives with the school of business administration and the department of athletics. McCarter passed away in May, 2019 after a seven-year battle with cancer.
