
EAST LANSING, Mich. –Katie Colwell went a four-of-four in first place finishes while
Marko Khotynetskyi tallied three first place finishes of his own as the Oakland men's and women's swimming and diving teams fell to Michigan State Saturday, 165-135, and 151-148 respectively.
The Golden Grizzlies tallied a combined 16 first place finished on the day, including the women sweeping the relays placing first in all four races.
Colwell raced to the top spot in the 50 free (23.48), 100 free (51.47), 200 medley relay (1:41.76) alongside
Grace Shinske,
Taylor Bailey,
Susan LaGrand and 400 free relay (3:28.27) with teammates
Emily Aycock,
Karlee Marsh and
Kirstyn Abbasse.
On the men's side MarkoKhotynetskyi placed first in the 100 backstroke (49.22),200 back 1:47.42, 200 IM (1:51.91), and finished second in the 200 medley relay (1:30.86) accompanied by
Ryan Geheb,
Mack Flowers, and
Christian Bart.
The Golden Grizzlies will return home to the Oakland Aquatic Center next weekend as they host league foes IUPUI and Cleveland State. Oakland will begin the weekend against the Jaguars Friday at 4 p.m. The Golden Grizzlies will welcome Cleveland State for Senior Day on Saturday at 1 p.m.
