ROCHESTER, Mich.Jenn Dempster has been promoted to learning specialist for Oakland University Athletics announced by Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Experience Ashley Stone on Monday. Dempster previously served as the women's basketball video coordinator since 2012 while assisting part-time in the academic services and student-athlete development office the past three years.

"As a former Oakland basketball student-athlete, Jenn brings a unique perspective to this position and understands the academic and athletic demands our student-athletes face," said Stone. "She has built a strong rapport with student-athletes, staff, and campus constituents the past three years working as a part-time learning specialist for us and understands the level of individual instruction and educational support our student-athletes need to succeed on and off the court. We are excited to add Jenn as a full-time member of our student services family."

During Dempster's time on the women's basketball staff her responsibilities included coordinating all video activities and needs, coordinating community outreach programs and assisting with the program's day-to-day operations.

In her new role, Dempster will serve as an academic advisor and mentor to men's and women's basketball programs, plus coordinate academic support and success for student-athletes.

"I would like to thank the administration for hiring me for the learning specialist position at Oakland," said Dempster. "I am very excited and humbled with the opportunity to be able to work with the student-athletes and look forward to helping them succeed on and off the playing field. Oakland University is a special place to me, first as a student-athlete and now as a full-time employee."

Dempster is a 1998 inductee into the Oakland Hall of Honor, playing from 1988-92 and was a two-time All-American for the Pioneers. During her junior season, she averaged 20.3 points per game, scored in double-figures in all 29 games and had 14 contests of 20 or more points. She finished her career with 1,445 points in three seasons at Oakland.
