ROCHESTER, Mich. –
Cody Bonte has joined the athletic training staff announced on Tuesday by Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Training Chris Curran. Bonte joins Oakland after serving as a graduate athletic trainer at Dakota Wesleyan University.

"Cody comes to us from Dakota Wesleyan University where he not only was a student-athlete, but also worked with most of their sports programs as a graduate athletic trainer", said Curran. "Cody is a young professional with a great deal of potential and we are excited to add him to our staff."

While at DWU, Bonte served as the head athletic trainer for the men's and women's soccer team and the baseball team where he collaborated with coaches, physicians, chiropractors and other health care professionals to provide the best care and communication to administer proper treatment to student-athletes.

"I'm really looking forward to the opportunity to get to work at Oakland University with the talented Division I student-athletes we have on campus," said Bonte. "Everyone that I have met, both on my interview and in the short-time as an employee, has welcomed me with open arms. The ambitious attitude of the athletic department is extremely contagious and I'm excited to learn as much as possible and help out in any way that I can!"

Bonte, a native of Garretson, South Dakota, was a four-year football student-athlete earning a Bachelor of Science degree in athletic training in 2017 and Master of Arts degree in educational policy and administration from Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, South Dakota in 2019.
