
FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Oakland Softball fell to both Purdue Fort Wayne and Ball State this evening by the score of 4-3 and 10-0 respectively. While playing, it was announced officially that after all games were completed around the league, Oakland will be traveling to and participating in the 2019 Horizon League Tournament, hosted by UIC.
In game one against the Mastodons of Purdue Fort Wayne,
Jackie Reitmeyer recorded two hits with two walks and one RBI.
Kelsie Swanson,
Mikayela Marciniak,
Lauren Griffith and
Shannon Carr all added one hit each.
Mikayela Marciniak grounded out to first base, picking up an RBI getting Oakland on the board in the top of the third. Later on in the sixth inning, Reitmeyer doubled to left field, picking up an RBI scoring
Jamie Squires.
Lauren Griffith would account for the last Golden Grizzlies run as she hit a sacrifice fly out to right field which allowed
Arieanna Grammatico to tag up from third and score.
Lauryn Debono pitched 5.2 innings, striking out a season-high nine players. She walked only one and gave up four earned runs.
In game two of the evening, the Cardinals of Ball State played a stellar game all around, no-hitting the Golden Grizzlies and putting up 10 runs.

Mikayela Marciniak and
Lauren Griffith all reached base on walks in the contest.
Ball State's Stacy Payton hit three home runs, recording eight of the team's 10 total RBI's in the contest.
The Golden Grizzlies will travel to Chicago, Ill. on Wednesday, May. 8 to take part in the Horizon League Softball Tournament hosted by UIC.
