ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Oakland tennis team defeated rival Detroit Mercy, 6-1 Saturday from Bloomfield Tennis and Fitness to guide the Golden Grizzlies to another two points in the Metro Series.
 
The Golden Grizzlies (11-8, 5-2 HL) took the early 1-0 lead after earning the doubles point from a 6-4 No. doubles win from Alexandra Whall and Amanda Nilsson, and the duo of Dasha Artamonova and Sofia Borcuti winning in No. 3 doubles, 6-3.
 
In singles play Oakland won five of six matches to ultimately take the 6-1 win over the Titans (9-10, 2-5 HL).
 
After Saturday's win, the Golden Grizzlies now lead the Metro Series, 20-4.
 
Oakland closes out the regular season at home next week when they host Wright State Friday, April 19 and Northern Kentucky on Saturday.
