
ROCHESTER, Mich. - Connor Goetz,
Brandon Davis and
Gabby Cyriax all took first in their respective events on day one of the Golden Grizzlies Invite.
Davis took first in the men's long jump with a jump of 23 ft., 4.25 in. Freshman
Chase Novak placed third by a mark of 22 ft., 5.75 in. while
Alex Hugh-Plott placed 12
th and
Sam Narusch placed 18
th.
Connor Goetz dominated the men's 5000m, crossing the finish line at 14:55.94 while
Kyle Schwieman placed 16
th in the event with a time of 16:13.79.
Over on the field side,
Gabby Cyriax placed first in the women's hammer throw with a toss of 159 ft., 7 in.
Mary Moore placed fourth in the event while
Nadia Lengel placed sixth.
On the men's side of the hammer throw,
Demetri Harris placed fifth with a mark of 133 ft., 8 in.
Both
Nicole Grindling and
Brad Mallory placed runner-up in the 3000m steeplechase, Grindling with a time of 11:38.22 and Mallory 10:05.74.
In the women's 10000m run,
Bailey Cronin finished at the top for Oakland, placing third with a time of 40:06.13 while
Macy Gustavus finished right behind her teammate in fourth with a time of 40:11.36.
Rounding out the fielding events,
Micah Dymond placed seventh in the women's javelin with a mark of 73 ft., 0 in. while
Audrey Weber placed 11
th and
Jessica Krone placed 13
th.
Johnathon Sholl placed third in the men's section by a mark of 143 ft., 7 in.
The Golden Grizzlies will continue with day two of the meet tomorrow at noon. Senior recognition will begin at 12:50 p.m. right after the men's 100m dash prelims.
