
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio. - Rachel Levy was named the champion of the 5000m run, recording a time of 16:43.30. This marks the fourth consecutive year that a female Oakland runner has won the 5k race at championships. With her first place finish, she will be honored tomorrow with First Team All-Conference honors. The female distance runner's weren't done after Levy's race as the distance medley relay team of
Allison Shannon,
Kathleen Pencak,
Madison Leigh and
Heather Czarnecki battled for their first place finish with a time of 12:02.00. This also marks the fourth year in a row the female Oakland DMR team has captured the top spot on the podium at championships.
Olivia Kane and
Dana Tessmer captured the first and second place spots in the women's pole vault as they both vaulted a school record of 12 ft., 6 in. and went on to decide overall finishes in a vault-off.
Tyler Sirut placed runner-up in the men's weight throw, tossing 59 ft., 2.25 inches while fellow thrower Kenton Rivard placed fifth in the same event with a mark of 52 ft., 9.25 in. In the women's weight throw,
Gabby Cyriax placed third with a toss of 52 ft., 5.25 in. while
Mary Moore placed seventh (48 ft., 4 in.)
Nadia Lengel finished eighth behind Moore with a mark of 48 ft., 3.5 in.
Freshman
Paige Sanders will make her way to the podium as she placed third in the long jump with a leap of 18 ft., 6 in. while
Brandon Davis (23 ft., 0.5 in),
Zach Stadnika (22 ft., 9 in.), and
Chase Novak (22 ft., 8 in.) placed fourth, fifth and sixth consecutively in the men's long jump.
Oakland will continue competition tomorrow with multi's beginning at 9 am, and all final running events will begin at 2:30 pm.
