NDIANAPOLIS – The Oakland men's and women's swimming and diving teams hold a commanding lead after Friday's competition at IU Natatorium. The Golden Grizzlies head into the final day of the Horizon League Championships leading the pack with 600 points on the men's side and a score of 520 for the women.
 
Oakland tallied nine first place finishes Friday, including a program and Horizon League record in the women's 400 medley relay made up Grace Shinske, Sydney McDowell, Susan LaGrand and Katie Colwell (3:39.45).
 
The men's 400 medley relay team of Will Gayne, Tony Eriksson, Mack Flowers and Paul Huch also placed first in 3:12.81.
 
Madelyn Cislo and Patrik Lofgren swam to first place finishes in the 400 IM, while Shinske and Huch were crowned Horizon League Champions in the 100 backstroke. Rudy Aguilar swam to the top spot in the 200 free, while McDowell finished first in the 100 breaststroke.
 
In diving, Joe Smith took the top spot in the 1 meter competition with a score of 370.45
 
The Oakland men look to claim its 41^st straight championship title, while the women eye their 25^th straight championship in the final day of competition tomorrow with prelims beginning at 10, finals starting at 5:40.
