
AKRON, Ohio - The men's 400 free relay concluded the 2019 Zippy Invite on a high note as Marko Khotynetskyi,
Christian Bart,
Mack Flowers and
Rudy Aguilar set a new meet record, a new pool record and a new Horizon League top time in the event with their 2:57.68 finish. The men's team finished in second with 1784 total points while the women tallied 1731 points, also finishing in second.
Both
Susan LaGrand (1:56.27) and Marko Khotynetskyi (1:44.86) earned NCAA B cut marks and set new league top times as they placed runner-up in the 200 back.
Grace Shinske placed third in the women's final while
Rachel Boodt placed sixth.
Colton Phelps finished fourth in the men's final.
Katie Colwell finished third in the 100 free, clocking in a time of 50.15 while
Sohvi Nenonen recorded a time of 51.15. Colwell's time is now the top mark in the event in the league. On the men's side of the 100 free,
Christian Bart placed fourth with a time of 44.88 while
Rudy Aguilar finished in sixth place.
Taylor Bailey set a new league top time with her 2:14.73 finish in the 200 breaststroke. Tarek Aboelenin finished fifth in the men's final.
Sophomore
Danylo Hrebelnyi recorded a fourth place finish (1:50.67) in the men's 200 fly while
Colton Phelps slid into ninth.
Sohvi Nenonen placed sixth (2:04.24) in the women's heat and
Madelyn Cislo placed 11th.
The Golden Grizzlies will continue competition after the holidays, returning to the pool Jan. 10-11 at Cincinnati.
