
TIFFIN, Ohio - Nicole Grindling placed first in the women's mile with a time of 5:21.73 at the Tiffin Alumni Open, the Golden Grizzlies last indoor meet of year before breaking for the holidays. Morgan Markel placed runner-up, keeping pace with Grindling with a time of 5:25.49 while Courtney Jarema placed fourth,
Marisa Papadelis placed fifth and
Ollie Updike placed sixth. Thomas Polak placed fifth in the men's mile (4:36.97).
In the mid-distance finals, freshman Maddie Brown placed first in the 800m (2:23.50) while
Micah Dymond placed runner-up with a time of 2:29.91. Eddie Harrell III placed fourth in the men's heat.
Olivia Rademacher legged out a third place finish in the 500m (1:29.18) and Taylor Conner placed third in 3000m (11:22.22).
Sprinters
Jimmie Williams and
Chanel Gardner continued to shine as they both recorded first place finishes in the 300m dash. Williams clocked in a time of 34.89 while Gardner recorded a 40.19 time. The men took places first through fifth as
Malcolm McIntyre placed second,
Marcus Nellum placed third,
Junias Holmes placed fourth and
Zach Stadnika placed fifth. On the women's side, Payton Sabourin placed second and Angel Brandon placed fourth.
Marcus Nellum placed third in both the 60m and 60m hurdles with times of 6.96 and 8.16 respectively.
Jimmie Williams placed seventh in the 60m while
Zach Stadnika placed fourth in 60m hurdles (8.20).
Hannah Coverdill recorded a time of 9.24 in the women's 60m hurdles.
Alex Hugh-Plott won the men's high jump, clearing a height of 6 ft., 9.5 in. while
Chase VanSickle and
Sam Narusch placed second and third respectively.
Hannah Hall placed sixth in the women's high jump with a mark of 5 ft., 3.75 in.
Olivia Kane placed runner-up in pole vault recording a height of 12 ft., 1.25 in while
Zach Stadnika placed third in the long jump (22 ft., 9.25 in.). Lauren Christian led the lady throwers, placing fourth in shot put with a heave of 43 ft., 8.5 in. Mikayla Wise placed ninth and
Kyle Piotrovsky placed 11th in the men's shot put.
Rounding out the field events was
Chase Novak who placed runner-up in the triple jump (44 ft., 2.75 in.) and
Paige Sanders who placed fifth (33 ft., 8 in.).
The Golden Grizzlies will return to action Friday, Jan. 10 at Saginaw Valley for the SVSU Classic.
