ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Oakland men's soccer team opens a two-match road swing at Marshall on Monday, Aug. 27 at Hoops Family Field starting at 7 p.m. The match will be broadcast live on HerdVision on C-USAtv (paid subscriptions only) as well as 88-1 WMUL-FM on-air and online.

Notes:
- Marshall is 1-0 on the season after shutting out Duquesne, 1-0, on Friday

- The Thundering Herd lead the all-time series 2-1 with Oakland winning the last meeting, 2-0, on the road in 2013

- Oakland enters the match 0-0-1 after a double overtime draw against Western Illinois in the season opener (8/24) in which Napoleon Outlaw III scored his first career goal in dramatic fashion with just 29 seconds left in regulation to force overtime

- The Golden Grizzlies were picked to finish sixth in the 2018 Horizon League Preseason Poll

- The Golden Grizzlies have 14 returners including All-Horizon League Second Team selection Nyal Higgins who anchored the back line to three shutouts last season and All-Freshman Team selection Noah Jensen who recorded two assists. Forward Nebojsa Popovic also returns after leading the team in assists (6) while ranking second in goals (4) and total points (14).

- Seniors Hamid Barry, Jacob Moore, Jimmy Todd and junior team captain Spencer Nolff will look to lead the team to a third Horizon League championship in a five-year span.

- Oakland also welcomes a diverse group of 11 newcomers who will look to make an immediate impact. The group includes four international student-athletes in Alfa Barry (Paris, France), Dorian Barberio (Guebwiller, France), Alabama-Huntsville transfer Corentin Diverres (Guidel, France) and Hartwick College transfer Elliott Bentley (Oakham, England) along with three additional transfers in Dylan Borczak (Detroit, Mich. - Schoolcraft College), Vince Manzo (Washington, Mich. - Villanova) and Cameron McNeil (Rochester Hills, Mich. - Marshall). Freshman Luke Morrell (Plainwell, Mich.), Dawsun Schrum (Sterling Heights, Mich.), Michael Teller (Lake Orion, Mich.) and Cameron Wilde (Shelby Township, Mich.) round out the class.
