OAKLAND FALLS TO UMKC IN SEASON OPENER

Sophie Wilsey scored her first career goal in the 27th minute

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Sophie Wilsey scored her first career goal Friday night as the Golden Grizzlies fell to UMKC, 2-1 in their season opener.

The Kangaroos took an early 1-0 lead just four minutes into the game, but Wilsey answered in the 27th minute of the first half with a header in front of the net off an assist from Lauren Bos to tie things back up at 1-1.
 
UMKC (1-0) scored the go-ahead goal in the 50th minute to take the 2-1 lead over Oakland (0-1).
 
The Golden Grizzlies are back in action Sunday when they take on K-State in Manhattan, Kan. at 1 p.m. (ET). Sunday's game will be broadcast on K-StateHD.TV and Facebook Live.
