11-5-18 vs Milwaukee HLT Final Graphic

ROCHESTER, Mich. -
Dylan Borczak, Jimmy Todd, Nebojsa Popovic and Travis Harrington recorded five total shots on goal as No. 3 Oakland dropped a hard fought match to No. 6 Milwaukee, 1-0, during quarterfinal action of the 2018 Horizon League Championship on Monday night at the Oakland Soccer Field. The Golden Grizzlies held a 11-0 corner kick and 11-5 shot advantage for the match.

Oakland controlled play for the entire first half creating chances while holding Milwaukee without a single shot.

In the 53rd minute of the second half, Milwaukee's Vuk Latinovich took advantage of a failed header clear attempt which he connected on a long shot to left corner past the outstretched arms of Sullivan Lauderdale for a 1-0 lead.

Oakland had two great opportunities for the equalizer with the first coming from Borczak who got inside the box and ripped a shot to the upper corner that Milwaukee goalkeeper Freddie Lorenzen deflected away with his right hand at the last possible second in the 73rd minute.

In the 80th minute off a corner kick, Nyal Higgins headed the cross over to Todd who actually beat Lorenzen towards the far left post with a header of his own but a Milwaukee defender held the line making a header save to preserve the lead.

The Golden Grizzlies had one final corner kick chance with three seconds remaining on the clock but was not able to covert.
