INDIANAPOLIS -- Matt DiLeo, Tyler Janish and Nate Schweers have been named to the Horizon League Academic All-League Team announced by the league office on Friday.
DiLeo, a junior catcher from Rockford, Mich., has started in 47 of 51 games played this season and is hitting .243 with 10 doubles, five home runs and 28 RBIs while scoring 20 runs. The three-time Horizon League Academic Honor Roll recipient currently owns a 3.65 grade-point average in marketing.
Janish, a senior infielder from Whittemore, Mich., is the only player to start in all 51 games this year for the Golden Grizzlies. He ranks third on the team in runs scored with 33 while hitting three home runs and driving in 22 RBIs. Janish leads the league in sacrifice bunts (12) and has the second-most plate appearances during conference play among Horizon League batters. He has been named to the league's honor roll four times in his career and graduated with a degree in health sciences this spring with a 3.87 GPA.
Schweers, a junior left-handed pitcher from Ankeny, Iowa, has made a team-high 20 appearances out of the bullpen this season, owning a 3-2 record with a 5.15 earned-run average and has struck out 33 batters in 43.2 innings pitched. He has allowed the fewest runs (12) among pitchers during league play and the second-fewest hits (30) and walks (6). The four-time Horizon League Academic Honor Roll recipient currently boasts a 3.70 GPA in communication.
Oakland (15-36, 11-17 HL) will finish out the regular season with two home games May 19 and 20 against Northern Kentucky before heading to the Horizon League Tournament beginning May 24. Both home games at the Oakland Baseball Field start at 1 p.m. with Saturday's senior day game being streamed live on ESPN3.
