ROCHESTER, Mich. -- Tyler Palm threw 6.0 shutout innings allowing just three hits and striking out three batters as the Oakland baseball team blanked Western Michigan 3-0 Wednesday afternoon at the Oakland Baseball Field. With the 7-0 win in the previous game against Valparaiso on May 7, the Golden Grizzlies recorded back-to-back shutout wins for the first time since 1997.

Emerson Misch scored the first Oakland run off an error by the shortstop in the bottom of the first inning while Matt DiLeo scored in the fourth inning off a wild pitch. Zach Sterry then made it 3-0 with a RBI-double to left-center field in the seventh inning.

T.J. Shook, P.J. Piesko and Jared Burkert came out of the bullpen in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings respectively and combined for no hits and two strikeouts as Burkert picked up his fourth save of the season.

Oakland (13-33, 9-14 HL) has now won its last six meetings against the Broncos (19-24, 8-10 MAC) dating back to 2010 and will remain in league play for the rest of the season taking on Northern Kentucky in a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m. Friday on ESPN3.
