March 2, 2017 INDIANAPOLIS -- Oakland's Sherron Dorsey-Walker has added another academic accolade to his resume after being named to the Academic All-League Team, the Horizon League office announced Thursday.

The senior guard has been a leader on the court and in the classroom, averaging 13.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game. Dorsey-Walker has recorded 18 double-digit performances, including a career-high 28 points against Milwaukee, making a career-best eight triples in the regular season finale to clinch a No. 1 seed in the Horizon League Tournament and a first-ever regular season Championship.
In February Dorsey-Walker was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team. He became just the second men's basketball player to earn this distinction in the Division I era (Max Hooper, 2016).
Dorsey-Walker ranks among the league's best in scoring (15th), rebounds (T16th), assists (7th), steals (T7th), free throw percentage (T13th) and minutes played (8th).
The Detroit native has always been committed to the classroom, graduating from Pershing High School as the class valedictorian. At Oakland he is a three-time Horizon League Academic Honor Roll selection and boasts one of the better GPAs on the team at 3.36 as an integrative studies major.
To be eligible for All-Academic Team consideration, student-athletes must be starter of important reserve for their team, have completed at least 24 semester (or 36 quarter) hours at their institution and have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.2.
